Course Information
Often regarded as the most important and fundamental course in the Australian Vocational Education and Training (VET) industry, the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is the benchmark qualification for any individual who will be delivering training and assessment in VET.
If you currently hold the TAE40110 and want to upgrade to the latest TAE40116, we are now offering 1 or 2 day upgrade workshops.
You can hold any combination of units including the TAEASS502 and TAELLN411. If you already hold additional units, it just means you have less work to do! All other units will be credit transferred to the latest versions.
Once you have been deemed competent, you will receive a brand new Certificate IV in Training & Assessment TAE40116 and a statement of attainment with all the current units.

FAQs
1. What do I need to bring to the workshop?
As part of the enrolment process, you will be required to provide your:
- TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification and transcript
- Resume
- Job description
You will also need to bring your laptop and 3 different units of competency (with at least 3 different methods of assessment). This should include:
- Assessment tools
- Mapping
- Validation
- Assessor instructions / marking guide
- Students instructions
2. Are there pre-requisites to join the upgrade?
You must be currently employed and working in Vocational Education & Training for an RTO or suitable organisation.
You must have at least two years current experience facilitating and assessing recognised units of competency.
Your immediate supervisor or employer may be required to verify your evidence supplied.
You must supply transcripts and certificates related to your vocation (particularly the Certificate IV in TAE40110).
You must have designed, developed, trialled and validated at least three assessment tools including at least one RPL. We must be able to verify that the materials you provide are your own or that you have contributed significantly to developing these materials.
3. How long will it take?
It may take up to three months to complete all requirements for this qualification pathway.
4. How does the costing work?
The fee chargeable by AITT relates to the number of units you will attain and not the amount of time you will spend in the workshops or with facilitators. All students are eligible to unlimited support from AITT until they attain their qualification.
If you are a very experienced expert trainer assessor it is likely it you will be able to complete your upgrade more quickly than other experienced trainers.
